SPARK™ is the latest innovation in aligner material. We will provide you with a series of clear aligners that will gradually move your teeth to their ideal position.
What are the advantages of SPARK™ aligners over metal braces?
SPARK™ aligners are made of clear plastic and are custom-made to fit your teeth. They are virtually invisible because there are no metal brackets which makes SPARK™ aligners more comfortable than traditional braces.
Are SPARK™ aligners BPA-free?
SPARK™ aligners are free of BPA, mercury, latex, and phthalates.
Are there any food restrictions while having SPARK™ treatment?
As with any clear aligners, there are no food restrictions. You just need to remove your SPARK™ clear aligners before eating and drinking.
Eating and drinking, especially hot beverages, can cause your clear aligners to deform or break. If you suspect any breakage or deformities in your aligners, please do not wear them and contact our office immediately.
What will happen during my first appointment for SPARK™ aligners?
During your first appointment at Happier Smiles, Dr. Nee or Dr. Cyrus will start with a comprehensive examination of your teeth, jaw, and gums. Then, we will take a digital scan of your teeth to create a 3D simulation of how your teeth will look after the treatment.
Can you show me what the outcome of my smile will look like before treatment begins?
Yes! With the advancement in orthodontics, we can now show the treatment outcome before starting with your first aligner set.
How often should I visit Happier Smiles?
Usually, it is every 6-8 weeks. But as with any other orthodontic option, the frequency of visits depends on the complexity of the case, oral hygiene, and patient’s progress.
How long will treatment take?
Every case is different; thus, the duration varies. The average treatment time is about 12-18 months. It may be shorter for patients with mild crowding and longer for those with more complex dental crowding.
How long do I wear the SPARK™ aligners each day?
You should wear your SPARK™ aligners for at least 22 hours a day. Ideally, you will only have to remove the aligners for eating, drinking, and brushing.
Do I sleep with my SPARK™ aligners?
Yes. You should wear your SPARK™ aligners for 22 hours a day, including sleeping.
Is wearing SPARK™ aligners painful?
While SPARK™ aligners may be more comfortable than metal braces, there’s still a chance that you may experience discomfort. Any type of orthodontic treatment comes with some degree of mild discomfort because your teeth are moving to their ideal position.
INVISALIGN vs SPARK™
What is the difference between SPARK™ and INVISALIGN aligners?
SPARK™ aligners are said to be clearer and more comfortable than Invisalign aligners. Like Invisalign, SPARK™ uses 3D technology to create their aligners, but they go the extra mile to trim and polish the edges to prevent irritation on the inside of lips and gums – a big plus for our patients. Additionally, the material used to create the aligners may result in more effective and efficient movement, thereby leading to faster treatment time. Studies have shown that for some patients, Spark can be more comfortable and efficient.
Also, SPARK™ is locally made here in Southern California, so the turnaround time for your custom-created aligner set is faster than ever!
SPARK™ ALIGNERS CARE
How do I clean my SPARK™ aligners?
Always rinse your aligners (never use hot water) every time you remove them from your mouth to prevent the build-up of bacteria from your saliva. Using hot water can deform your SPARK aligners™.
Never use toothpaste and a hard-bristled toothbrush to clean your SPARK aligners. They may scratch your aligners, causing them to appear cloudy and prone to bacteria build-up.
Avoid soaking your aligners in mouthwash to prevent any discolorations.
And lastly, always put your SPARK™ aligners in their case when you remove them before eating and drinking to prevent getting lost or damaged.
